WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- As municipalities in Westchester prepare for snow they are setting parking restrictions to make clearing the snow easier.
Village of Ossining
The Village of Ossining's snow emergency began at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Residents are barred from parking on part of Broad Avenue, all of Croton and Dale Avenues, part of Edward Street and Everett Avenue, all of Ferris Place, part of Lafayette Avenue, all of Main Street, North Highland Avenue, Pleasantville Road, Secore Road, South Highland Avenue, Spring Street, State Street, and a portion of William Street.
"In the event vehicles are not moved from the ... referenced streets, the Police Department is authorized to ticket and/or have said vehicle removed from the street," the village announced in a release. "Removal of vehicles from these streets enables Village staff to properly clear roadways to allow these streets to be safely navigated."
Ossining's declaration will remain in effect until further notice.
The City of New Rochelle announced garbage/trash pickup has been cancelled for both Thursday and Friday as crews focus on snow removal.
To facilitate snow plowing, the city announced residents should relocate cars off street where possible and not throw snow back into roadways when shoveling out.
A snow emergency was declared in Mount Kisco by Village Manager James Palmer.
The declaration means no parking on any street or roadway from 12:01 a.m. Thursday until 7:01 a.m. Friday.
"No person shall throw or deposit snow upon any plowed portion of any street or roadway," Palmer said. " Homeowners are responsible for the actions of private contractors in their employ."
Free overnight parking is available in all municipal parking lots during the snow emergency.
Hastings-On-Hudson Police Chief David Bloomer announced parking restrictions that will be in effect from Thursday morning, February 13, at 12:01 a.m. until Thursday evening, February 13 at 6 p.m.
Parking restrictions in Hastings include parts of Washington Avenue, Warburton Avenue, Rosedale Avenue, Mount Hope Boulevard, Maple Avenue and Southside Avenue.
