The Missing Person Alert for the former Dutchess resident issued Monday afternoon has been canceled after she was found safe Monday evening.

A trooper patrolling the New York State Thruway saw her car stopped on the side of the road in Herkimer and found her safe, state police said.

New York officials are asking residents to be on the lookout for a missing 82-year-old former Dutchess County resident who is missing from Pennsylvania, according to the New York State Missing Persons Clearinghouse.

Dawn Elaine Darling, who formerly lived in Dutchess County, has Alzheimer's and may be in need of medical attention, officials said.

She was last seen early Monday driving a 2008 grey Hyundai Elantra with New York registration EHZ-1376 in Warren Township, Pa., officials added.

She is described as being a white female, 5-feet-8, weighing 141 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light green sweatshirt with black pants.
