CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Entergy, the electric power company, will conduct security training drills at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan throughout the day Tuesday.
The drills will use simulated weaponry that sounds like gunfire as participants carry out attack scenarios that are intended to be as realistic as possible.
Entergy will use a technical innovation for the exercise known as “MILES” gear, Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems. They use laser “bullets” and vests with laser-detection equipment, and duplicate the effects, including the sound, of live ammunition.
Local law enforcement agencies have been informed of the events.
