I-87 Tractor-Trailer Fire Extinguished, But Heavy Delays Stretch Back Miles

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- A tractor-trailer fire on southbound I-87 near the I-287 intersection in Tarrytown that has been extinguished but heavy delays still stretch miles back on I-287  Friday afternoon.

The fire, reported at 2:30 p.m., was fully engulfed and led to the closure of that stretch of the highway. It has now been extinguished and all lanes have reopened.

Smoke from the fire could be seen miles in both directions.
