How Ossining Planning Boards Work

OSSINING, N.Y. – The Daily Ossining has begun a series called “How Your Town/Village Works” to help explain what goes on at Ossining Village Hall and what you need to know. Yesterday we looked at the village board of trustees and the town council. Today we will look at the planning boards for the village and town, and Wednesday we’ll look at the zoning boards.

The village planning board consists of eight members appointed by the board of trustees, and the town planning board consists of five members appointed by the town council.

The village planning board generally meets the fourth Tuesday of every month, while the town planning board generally meets once per month on a Wednesday.

Agendas are generally available online a few weeks before a meeting. If someone has a question on an agenda before a meeting, they can contact the village planning board office at 914-762-6232, or the town planning board office at 914-762-8419.

Public comment is allowed at meetings. During a public hearing, there is generally a time limit of three minutes. During general meetings, there is no set time limit.

Minutes for meetings are generally adopted during the following month's meeting, then posted online.
