Bear Mountain Bridge Road (Route 6/202) was closed in both directions due to a serious traffic crash.
The reported head-on crash occurred early Tuesday near the overlook and caused a large fluid spill, officials said.
State police were on the scene and could not immediately offer details of the crash. They asked drivers to avoid the area to avoid long backups.
