WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- According to Children's and Women's Physicians of Westchester President Dr. Leonard Newman, the pediatric industry is experiencing something of a renaissance.

Newman credits the growth of CWPW as one of the sparks that helped reignite the pediatric flame within the medical community.

"Before we started doing this, pediatricians were a dying breed," Newman told Daily Voice. "Practices were failing. Many people who had dedicated their lives to children were lost to this Westchester community."

This rebirth is likely to continue in the area since CWPW's recent merger with Boston Children's Hospital.

"We have seen strategic growth over the last five years at a very high rate," CWPW CEO Gerard Villucci said. "We grew from probably 125 physicians to almost 300 in that time period. Certainly we're on a trajectory to continue to grow. It's part of our plan and we believe part of Boston's plan and part of why they were interested in working with us."
