Bow Hunting Season Begins Oct. 1 In Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Bow hunting season will open in select Westchester County parks on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

The archery hunting season is part of the county's Adaptive Deer Management program and includes sections of Muscoot Farm in Somers, Lasdon Park and Arboretum in Katonah, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown Heights, Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem and, in a pilot program, John E. Hand Bald Mountain Park in Yorktown.

The season runs through Dec. 31. Parks will remain open during the season and informational signs will be posted for hunters and park visitors. A detailed safety program will be in effect.
