Body Found In Chappaqua Believed To Be Missing Armonk Man

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A body found in Chappaqua's Glazier Preserve Thursday night is believed to be that of missing 21-year-old Miles Applebaum of Armonk, according to New Castle Police.

New Castle Police said that a member of the New York State Forest Rangers located the body, which was found at around 6 p.m. Applebaum's vehicle was found in the preserve's parking lot on Wednesday, New Castle Police said.

Applebaum, a Byram Hills graduate, was missing since Monday morning.

A candelight vigil was held for him on Thursday evening at Armonk's Wampus Brook Park, where his mother implored him to return home.

Miles Applebaum, a Temple University student, was on medical leave, according to his mother.

New Castle Police stated that agencies assisting included North Castle Police, the Chappaqua Fire Department, Westchester County police aviation and canine units, a New York State Police canine unit, a team from the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, and Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers.

Additional information will not be released until final reports come from the Westchester County Medical Examiner, police added.
