OSSINING, N.Y. - Here are a few of the top stories from this week in Ossining:
- In honor of the Village of Ossining's Bicentennial Celebration, the Ossining Historical Society hosted the first of several tours that detail local history dating back to the village's inception. The first tour began Saturday at South Highland Avenue and Ellis Place, giving residents the chance to learn about the Victorian Era homes that dot the area.
- Ossining School District Superintendent Raymond Sanchez issued a letter to local parents this week informing them that AMD teacher Christine Chu-McGovern recently died. Chu-McGovern had been a music teacher at AMD Middle School since September 2008.
- Ossining Town Councilman Peter Tripodi announced this week that he will not be running for re-election in the town and will instead vie for a Westchester County Legislator position. Tripodi, who is the sole Republican on the Town of Ossining Board, has served the town since 2009, when he became the youngest elected official in the county.
