Area Native Anna S. Maceyak, 98, Dies

Anna S. Maceyak, a longtime resident of North Tarrytown and currently of Ossining, died on August 1, 2011. She was 98.

Mrs. Maceyak was born on May 22, 1913 to Andrew and Eva Wolk Sywyk in Blissville, NY.She was raised in Hastings.  She worked for many years at Eastern Aircraft, Fisher Body, and Mallory Battery in North Tarrytown and lived for over 70 years in North Tarrytown.

She was very involved in the community. She was a past parishioner of Holy Cross Church, a volunteer at the Neighborhood House Senior Canteen and Nutrition, the Tarrytown Seniors, North Tarrytown Seniors, Transfiguration Seniors, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #1042, as well as the Altar Rosary Society of Holy Cross Church. She married John Joseph Maceyak Sr. on April 19, 1936 at St. Michael’s Church in Yonkers. He predeceased her on March 23, 1997.

She is survived by her children: Richard (Ruth) of Columbus, OH, Raymond (Nancy) of Auburn, NY, Cecelia Zekus (Joseph T.) Kelly of Ossining, Carole (Gene) Savage of Peekskill, Paul (Alice) of Saugerties, NY, Mitzi (Donald) Corpora of St. Cloud, FL, and Nancy (Gino) Napolitano of Sugar Loaf, NY as well as 20 grandchildren, 18 Gt. Grandchildren, and 1 Gt. Gt. Granddaughter.

She is also survived by her sisters Nancy Kelly of FL, Sophia Harmon of GA, Pauline Heffernan of FL, Eva Sewick of Hastings, Doris Vitagliano of Dobbs Ferry, and Sue Lyons of Ossining as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband John, her son John Maceyak Jr., her grandson Christopher Corpora and her brothers John Siwick, Mike Sewick, William Sewick, Stephen Sywyk, Nicholas Sywyk, and her sister Mary Kosilla.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home Inc. in Tarrytown. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Sleepy Hollow. Her interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery .
