Lacey's funeral was held Friday morning at Holy Name of Mary Church on Grant Street in Croton.
Lacey was found unresponsive by her father, David Carr, Sunday afternoon in her home on Hastings Avenue in Croton, according to Croton Police Sgt. John Nikitopoulos. Lacey was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow where she was pronounced dead.
Kathleen Dymes, Lacey's mother, also was found unconscious and was taken to Phelps, where she remains in critical condition, according to Tina Dorfman, a spokeswoman for Phelps.
Police have ruled out carbon monoxide as a cause and said they still are investigating., awaiting the autopsy results. Dymes and Lacey lived at the home with Dymes' father, Kevin.
Dymes has hired Carmel attorney Christopher Maher, according to LoHud. Maher did not respond to a request for comment.
At the funeral, mourners fought back tears and consoled each other.
"Our hearts are weighed down by grief over the passing of this young child," Rev. Brian C. Brennan said. "This is our Good Friday. There is a great darkness that covers us. But we have a light in our darkness. A light called Lacey."
Brennan said he heard over and over that Lacey was an angel.
"Lacey's job was to be an angel so God could show angels do exist and this is what they do," Brennan said. "We have all been touched by this angel."
Lacey's first-grade teacher, Patricia Lynch, eulogized her and thanked the Croton community and the school district for all of their support. Lynch said Lacey was deeply loved by her family.
"Dave came on class trips and helped coach basketball," Lynch said. "Kathleen attended family math night and people told me what a caring nurse she was. They both loved her with every ounce of their being.
Lynch said one of her students said that her and Lacey made a good team.
"It's just not fair she's not here," the student told Lynch.
Lynch said Lacey was a girl who danced like no one was watching.
"I so wish Lacey was here with us," Lynch said. "She is forever our angel."
