Fair had been the school’s development director in raising the funds to construct the new wing.  In 1970, she came to Bishop Dunn to teach special education and a year later, she took over the direction of the special education program.  The program integrated students in the special education program into regular classes with the assistance of an aide – something that is now a mandated practice.

Before her retirement, Fair established the Development Office at the school.  “Each day she was at the door to greet all the children as they arrived and to bid them farewell as they left.  All the BDM students knew her office had treats for them so they stopped by often,” a press release said.

Bishop Dunn Memorial School was founded in 1883 as a Catholic school for children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
