To the editor:
I am writing in support of Dana Levenberg’s candidacy for Ossining Town Supervisor. I have known Dana since 2007. Our children have attended Ossining schools together and I was fortunate to meet Dana through district cultural arts activities.
Dana has always been an active community member. She held leadership roles at Briarcliff Nursery School when her sons were very young, and in the PTA. She founded the Ossining Micro Fund, which helps community members with one-time financial challenges. As Chief of Staff for New York State Assemblywoman Galef, Dana has worked for the needs of District 95 which includes the Town of Ossining. She has a strong grasp of county and regional issues through her participation in the Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress Fellows Program.
In addition to her demonstrated commitment to our community, her nine years as Ossining School Board Trustee (2006-2015) exemplify the balanced leadership she will bring to the Town Supervisor role. In a challenging economic environment she garnered the support of the community and board members to introduce Full Day Pre-K and the Dual Language program.
The support improved and expanded school buildings in order to address increased enrollment, accommodate innovative learning, and to continue development of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) offerings, for which the district has received national awards. She achieved these initiatives while keeping within the tax cap
Dana demonstrated her ability to listen to the concerns of tax payers, business owners, parents, and students. She worked with the board and community to chart a positive way forward for the school district. This is exactly the approach Dana will employ as Town Supervisor.
