To the editor:
The Village of Ossining Board of Trustees has been strictly a partisan board for the past several years. It is said a partisan board can continue the status quo, which is what this board is doing. What have they done for you lately?
They have no problem spending your tax dollars, even voting to override the tax cap as enacted by the state legislature. They can sell out the village by enacting payment in lieu of taxes agreements that allow developers to make a set payment to the village for 10 years in lieu of taxes even if the amount paid is lower than what the actual tax liability would be.
Taxes are already too high and longtime residents are being driven out of town by the taxes imposed upon them. The village will be enacting a budget soon that the village manager informed the present board will be below the tax cap.
It is time to try and stop this out-of-control spending. This year, you can break this board up and make it bi-partisan. On Election Day, you can vote for Luke Carbonaro on line B or C to represent you.
Luke moved to Ossining when he was 6 years old and currently still lives in Ossining. Luke has the volunteer spirit that is needed in a small community like Ossining. He is a member and officer with Independent Hose of the Ossining Fire Department, and continues to volunteer with the many community based organizations in our community.
Luke will bring young blood to this board. His impressive background and ideas can be found at OssiningLuke.com. Please join me on Election Day to vote for Luke Carbonaro as our new village trustee!
