Former Ossining Landscaper, Polletta Dies at 83

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Sabastiano Polletta, a longtime resident of Ossining, died Feb. 27 at the age of 83.

He was born in Bronx, N.Y. on June 27, 1928 to Giusseppe and Irena Polletta. Raised in Sassinoro, Italy, he returned to New York after turning 20. Polletta was the former owner of Polletta Landscaping and Masonry and was a parishioner of St. Ann's Church.

Surviving are his daughters Irene Sidden, Christina Brennen, Maria Castelli and Sandra Anelli, his brother Savario, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, the former Antonietta DiBrino and his brother Tomaso.  

Visiting hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Ann's Church in Ossining, with interment following at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ossining.
