The three-part workshop will be led by Irene Jozefowicz, principle of College Solutions of Mount Kisco, and will focus on teaching parents their aid eligibility and how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Many parents do not know how their age, number of children and their children's income affect age eligibility, Jozefowicz said.
With more than 50 parents already registered for the workshop, Jozefowicz said she's seen an increased interest from parents over the years on FAFSA assistance as the price of college tuition climbs and the economy remains sour.
"Over the last two decades, the cost of education has been two to three times the cost of inflation — that's kind of staggering," Jozefowicz said.
Whether your child is just beginning the college process or has already picked their school, Jozefowicz said all parents would benefit from knowing how to create a financial plan after their children graduate.
"Filling out the form is not the complicated part of it. What's really important is the strategic planning that goes before completing FAFSA," Jozefowicz said.
The College Solutions workshop begins at 7 p.m. at the library. Interested parents can call (914) 721-8224 to register or email greenteen@greenburghlibrary.org.
