BEACON, N.Y. - Bob Nevelus had his eye on retirement as a Sleepy Hollow Police Officer 10 years ago, and like most of us, he had a dream.

His dream was to open a cozy, little restaurant with great food and a family atmosphere.

So Nevelus attended the culinary institute - at the same time he was working full time his last two years as a cop - and eight years ago opened Beacon Falls Cafe.

And he hasn't looked back.

"I was getting ready to retire as a cop, and decided I wanted to go to the culinary institute," Nevelus told Daily Voice.

Nevelus runs the Cafe with his wife, Linda, and said they take pride in taking care of their customers.

"We're a family place," he said. "We have a lot of returning customers. We're like an old style place where you get to know your customers. We have great service, and a top-notch staff. We like to make people comfortable, and we like to have fun, keep it homey."

Specialties at the Cafe include everything from Sunday brunch - including five styles of eggs benedict and cannoli stuffed french toast  - to specialty burgers, and popular dinners like beer-braised beef and cafe favorite rosemary chicken.

Beacon Falls Cafe is located at 472 Main Street in Beacon. Link to their website is here, or find them on Facebook.
