Westchester Medical Center, in partnership with Westchester County Parks, will hold its Healing Half Marathon and 10K on Sunday, Oct. 2. This special event promoting health and wellness will take place along the iconic Bronx River Parkway, with a mix of rolling hills and steady inclines ensuring a demanding experience for hard-core runners and novices alike. Proceeds will benefit Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth).
Participants will start and finish in the vicinity of the Westchester County Center. The half marathon loop will take runners south on the Bronx River Parkway to Scarsdale Road, where they’ll turn around and head back toward the County Center. Runners in the 10K race will start a little farther south on the Bronx River Parkway and reverse course at Crane Road. The Parkway, which features stone arch bridges and beautiful views of the Bronx River, will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event.
The half marathon will begin at 8:30 a.m. (walkers only at 8 a.m.), and the 10K will begin at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top three men and women overall and in each age group.. Racers will receive a complimentary grilled cheese, delicious apple cider donut, fruit, chips, chocolate milk, a finisher medal and t-shirt, while supplies last.
Registration for the half marathon is $70 in advance and $80 on race day. Registration for the 10K is $40 in advance and $50 on race day. To register and to learn more about volunteering at the event, click here.
