Thankfully, the interior design experts at Wallauer's Design Center shared their tips on how to make your home shine this holiday season, without breaking the bank.

"A quick new fresh coat of paint in a dining room is a great way to get into the holiday spirit," said Kim Scappaticci, design director at Wallauer’s Design Center. "Try Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2018, Caliente AF-290, a strong, radiant and full of energy red."

Not looking to paint an entire room? Wallauer's shared four tips on how to freshen up before inviting friends and family:

Update rugs: Replacing a worn-out rug with a lively new print can do wonders for a room. Not only do area rugs offer protection for wood and tile floors, they make a space more comfortable underfoot. Wallauer's offers a variety of carpeting styles to fit every room's design.

Brighten up: Touching up a room's trim, chair rails or crown molding can provide an instant refresh. While painting the room a new color offers a complete overhaul, using a high gloss white paint on trim is a quick way to offer a clean finish. Wallauer's is an authorized Benjamin Moor retailer and has everything homeowners need to get painting.

Reupholster furniture: With a bit of planning, you can have that tired, old armchair looking like new thanks to Wallauer's design experts. Select a pattern and let them take care of the rest, to give new life to a well-loved piece.

Touch up: Furniture can take a beating throughout the year, especially when living with children. To cover nicks, dents and other blemishes on wood, purchase a set of colored filler sticks. These pen-shaped tools are designed to color over any chipping and come in nearly every color or stain.

"Wallauer’s Design Center is a one-stop shop, no matter the season," said Scappaticci. "We have a Shop at Home Decorator that will help you create a whole new fresh look."
