What's Happening In Ossining This Weekend

OSSINING, N.Y. – The Waterfront Concert Series continues this weekend as the highlight in Ossining, while events at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library are the highlights in Briarcliff Manor.

Friday, Aug. 10

Computer Help : 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free drop-in help with computers. Residents can learn how to navigate Web pages and create documents in Microsoft programs. For more information, call Cheryl at 914-941-2416, ext. 315. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Story Break: 4 p.m. The children’s librarian will stop by the pavilion above the pool at Briarcliff Manor’s Law Memorial Park to read a story every Friday through Aug. 17. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Open Crafts Day: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to stop in anytime and make something creative with the materials provided. Children under age 6 must have an adult helper. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Movie Night: 7 p.m. Families are invited to watch the film “Sleepless in Seattle” on the big screen at the library. The film is free and open to the public. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Waterfront Concert Series: 7 p.m. Free concerts every Friday at Louis Engel Waterfront Park in Ossining. The concert series is organized through the Waterfront Visioning Committee. Food vendors are expected on site for the concert. The lineup includes KJ Denhart on Saturday and Powderfinger on Aug. 17. Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Ossining.

Video and Board Games: 3:30 to 5 p.m. Video and board games in the Budarz Theater. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Saturday, Aug. 11

Ossining Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ossining Farmers Market is open for the 21st season at Spring and Main streets in Ossining. Dozens of vendors from around the tri-state area are returning this year. Several new vendors are joining the market for the first time. The farmers market runs every Saturday through Dec. 15. Market Square, Market and Spring streets.

Animals Incognito: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Camouflage plays an important role in nature, and for some animals it is their best defense against predators. Come meet some of Teatown’s most elusive critters. Afterward is a short hike outside to play a game to test your cryptic capabilities! Free for members; $5 per person for nonmembers. Lake Compounce Trip: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Music and Nutrition Camp will visit Lake Compounce. The camp is limited to 24 students on a first-come, first-serve basis with signed permission and $10 fee. Bring lunch or money for food. Transportation provided from the Ossining Community Center.

John Arrucci Quintet Concert: 2 p.m. The Ossining Public Library presents a free concert featuring the John Arrucci Quintent. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the release of Arrucci’s new album. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Game Break: 2 to 4 p.m. Board games, from Candy Land to Pictionary, will be provided by the Briarcliff Manor Public Library for family and friends to play in the Pavilion at Law Memorial Park. The program will take place every Saturday in July. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Between the Covers Summer Reading: June 22 – August. Special events for adults 18 and up, including movies and a book swap, will take place throughout the summer. Detailed information on the Adult Summer Reading Program will be available at the Library. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Sunday, Aug. 12

Waterfront Spray Park Open: Noon to 6 p.m. The Waterfront Spray Park at Louis Engel Waterfront Park is open from noon to 6 p.m. through the summer. Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Ossining.

The Ossining Public Library and Briarcliff Manor Public Library will be closed on Sunday for summer holiday hours.
