What's Happening In Ossining This Weekend

OSSINING, N.Y. – The Waterfront Concert Series in Ossining is one of the many highlights of weekend events in Ossining and Briarcliff Manor.  

Friday, July 13

Computer Help: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free drop-in help with computers. Residents can learn how to navigate Web pages and create documents in Microsoft programs. For more information, call Cheryl at 914-941-2416, ext. 315. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Story Break at the Briarcliff Library: 4 p.m. The children’s librarian will stop by the pavilion above the pool at Briarcliff Manor’s Law Memorial Park to read a story every Friday through Aug. 17. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Waterfront Concert Series: 7 p.m. Free concerts every Friday at Louis Engel Waterfront Park in Ossining. The concert series is organized through the Waterfront Visioning Committee. Food vendors are expected on site for the concert. The lineup includes Act 3 on July 13, The Doug Correllus Quintet on July 20, Jigsaww on July 27 and Pete Herger on Aug. 3. Summerfest of One-Act Plays: 7:30 p.m. The Ossining-based Westchester Collaborative Theater is producing a staged reading of four original one-act plays for its 2012 Summerfest event. Performances will be held in the Ossining Public Library’s Budarz Theater. The plays being performed are "Christine & Joanna," "Bent Wings," "Our Former Selves" and "Daddy Issues." Free admission and refreshments. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Saturday, July 14

The Ossining Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ossining Farmers Market is set to open for the 21st season at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Spring and Main streets in Ossining. Dozens of vendors from around the tri-state area are returning this year. Several new vendors are joining the market. The farmers market runs every Saturday through Dec. 15. Market Square, Market and Spring streets. 

Family Butterfly Houses at Teatown: 1 to 3 p.m. Meet at Cliffdale Farm to go butterfly hunting! Participants will use nets to catch and release butterflies found in the fields and end the program by constructing butterfly boxes to take home. Call 914-762-2912, ext. 110, to make a reservation. Teatown Lake Reservation, Yorktown.

Game Break at the Briarcliff Library: 2 to 4 p.m. Board games, from Candy Land to Pictionary, will be provided by the Briarcliff Manor Public Library for family and friends to play in the Pavilion at Law Memorial Park. The program will take place every Saturday in July. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Between the Covers Summer Reading: June 22 – August. Special events for adults 18-and-up, including movies and a book swap, will take place throughout the summer. Detailed information on the Adult Summer Reading Program will be available at the library. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road. 

Sunday, July 15

Waterfront Spray Park Open: Noon to 6 p.m. The Waterfront Spray Park at Louis Engel Waterfront Park is open from noon to 6 p.m. through the summer. Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Ossining.

The Ossining Public Library and Briarcliff Manor Public Library will be closed on Sunday for summer holiday hours.
