OSSINING, N.Y. – The Ossining Public Library's cookbook book sale and Briarcliff Manor's Community Day are the highlights of this weekend's events.

Friday, Sept. 14

Senior Cooking Class: 10 a.m. to Noon. "The Chemistry of Food and Cooking," a Westchester Community College Mainstream course for senior citizens. The class will be taught by Sandra Flank of the Westchester Community College. The class will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, as well as Sept. 21 and 28 and Oct. 12. Contact Kathy Asaro or Debbie Klein, 941-7198, to sign up for the class. Though the class is free, registration is necessary. Ossining Senior Center, 95 Broadway, Ossining.

Computer Help : 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free drop-in help with computers. Residents can learn how to navigate web pages and create documents in Microsoft programs. For more information, contact Cheryl at (914) 2416, Ext. 315. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Saturday, Sept. 15

The Ossining Farmers’ Market: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ossining Farmers’ Market is set to open for the 21st season at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on the corner of Spring and Main streets in Ossining. Dozens of vendors from around the tri-state area are returning this year. There also are several new vendors joining the market for the first time. The market is every Saturday through Dec. 15. Market Square, Market and Spring streets.

Briarcliff Library Technology Petting Zoo: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Stop by the library to try out one of our new technology tools: iPad, Kindle Fire, Kindle, Nook, laptop and wireless printer. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

The Digital Darkroom: 1-3 p.m. Photographer Mark Friedman presents a technical overview of what to do with your digital picture. The class starts at 1 p.m. in the second-floor conference room of the Ossining Public Library. This class will focus on color spaces, color management and the digital work flow. Briarcliff Manor Community Day: 2-10 p.m. Briarcliff Manor’s Community Day begins at 2 p.m. in Law Memorial Park with the last swim of the Briarcliff Pool. Events continue throughout the day with fireworks and a comedy show in the evening. Law Memorial Park, 1 Library Road, Briarcliff Manor.

Ossining Jazz Concert: 3 p.m. Jazz Concert with Judi Silvano’s Indigo Moods Trio. Silvano has 10 recordings to her credit. Her latest recording of “Indigo Moods” was released on Jazzed Media Records in April. Free. Budarz Theater, Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.
