Sharing Our Travels At Briarcliff Library: 10:15 a.m. The new arts program for adults 55-plus at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library is Sharing Our Travels: Bookmaking and Visual Journaling. Explore different methods to make your own books, altered books and visual journals on the theme of travel. Learn about design components (composition, balance, color, etc.) and experiment with different types of media including collage, paint, and color pencil. Incorporate writing and a sound recording to create a unique book reflecting on a powerful moment in your own life. People are requested to commit to all eight sessions. Sessions are Feb. 5, 12, 14, 19, 26, 28; March 5 and 12, from 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Registration is required. Space is limited. Musical Theater, “How Sweet The Sound:” 5:30 p.m. In celebration the Black American History Month, Julia Breanetta Simpson will be at Ossining Public Library with her new musical, “How Sweet the Sound.” Explore the evolution of the music from slavery to the jazz age. This interactive program of singing and dancing is ideal for families with children age 5 and up. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Chinese Culture Presentation: 7 p.m. In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the presentation at the Ossining Public Library will feature an introduction to the foundation of traditional Chinese culture and values, an exploration of classical Chinese dance, ethnic dance, musical instruments and a preview of the Shen Yun production. Ossining Earth Day Planning: 7 p.m. The Green Ossining committee is set to plan this year’s Earth Day celebration and Stash The Trash events at the Ossining Public Library. The tentative date for the Greater Ossining Earth Day/ Stash the Trash 2013 is April 20.
