OSSINING, N.Y. -- Kids can gain some hands-on experience with instruments before choosing one at Mike Risko Music School on Thursday, July 28 and Saturday, Aug. 6.
“It’s our passion and expertise to help kids select an instrument that they’ll grow to love; we believe every child’s first experience with music should be an extremely positive one,” said owner Mike Risko. “Choosing an instrument for school can be a big commitment for a young child, so we find that when given the opportunity to see, hold and play with a variety of instruments, kids are better able to choose one that they will really enjoy.”
Try-Me Day will run from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 28 and noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 6.
The service is to assist kids in deciding which instrument they will play in their school's band or orchestra. It is also available by appointment for kids who cannot attend either date.
Free recorders are also available to the first 25 incoming third graders from Ossining Schools.
Mike Risko Music School is located at 144 Croton Ave.
