SOMERS, N.Y. Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy (R,C,IN) Councilman Richard Clinchy (D,R,WF,IN) and Councilman Thomas Garrity (D,R,C,IN) are all running unopposed in Tuesday's Somers election. For more information about each candidate, click on his or her name.
Town Clerk Kathleen Pacella (D,R,C,IN), Town Justices Michael J. McDermott (R,C,IN) and Denis J. Timone (R,C,IN) and Superintendent of Highways Thomas Chiaverini (D,R,C,IN) are also running unopposed.
On the county level, however, there have been contentious races between the candidates running for the single seats in Districts 2 and 4, each of which includes a portion of Somers.
In District 2, the election pits incumbent Peter Harckham (D,WF,I) against Peter Michaelis (R,C) and in District 4, Terrence Murphy (R,C) is challenging incumbent Michael Kaplowitz (D,WF,IN).
The candidates had an opportunity to express their views in a forum sponsored by The League of Women Voters on Oct. 24.
In addition, Westchester County voters will be asked to choose two candidates for New York State Supreme Court Judge from a field of three candidates: Edward Borrelli, Robert M. DiBella and Paul Marx.
The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
