First up, performing at 8 p.m. July 22-23 is a new play with music, “The Green Frog Avenger,” written specifically for Theater O’s youngest performers by Ossining’s own Stephen Hersh. “The Green Frog Avenger” is a send up of superhero environmentalists and their foes featuring a three-armed superhero mutant frog, her sidekicks, Self-Righteous Girl and Factoidia, and a motley crew of Earth destroyers and defenders.

“The Green Frog Avenger” is Hersh's first children’s musical. The principal actors in the play are ages 5-8, and the ensemble members are ages 10 and older.

Hersh studied theatre in London and earned a master’s degree in playwriting, which led to a career in advertising. He has had two internationally syndicated comic strips, “Bliss” and “The Hots.” He is an active playwright member of the Westchester Collaborative Theatre Company. Hersh was the lyricist for the musical “Going Up?!,” which was the winner of the New York New Works festival in 2015.

On Friday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m., the theater presents the beloved children’s classic “James and the Giant Peach,” adapted by Richard George from the novel by Roald Dahl. The production will be Theater O's typical funky take on the magical story including raps, shadow puppetry and, of course, a giant peach.

The last production of the summer, “Blink of an Eye,” by Jeremy Dobrish, will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20. Time Out NY said of the off-Broadway production, “The Knicks, guardian angels, fallen angels, Shakespeare, billionaires, private eyes, French fries, manic cabbies, prison warden and pop culture. But wait, there’s more, this satirical thriller is ethereal comic perfection.”

The theater opens 15 minutes before show time. Tickets are $10 and reservations are required. E-mail reservations@theatero.org or call 914-487- 4322 for reservations.

Theater O is at 25 State St., Ossining.
