More than 100 people attended the event on June 6 as well-wishers and students of Theater O joined owners Jessica Irons and Connie Irons and Mayor Victoria Gearity as they cut the ribbon to announce the opening of Ossining’s newest professional theater school.
Theater O brings the talents and extensive teaching experience of professional actors, directors, and playwrights to Ossining, according to a press release.
“I am so lucky to do what I love in a place that I love (Ossining), with people I love,” Jessica Irons said, according to a press release.
“We are thrilled to have this exciting new addition to Ossining’s downtown," Gearity said according to a press release. "It is wonderful to see a local resident make her vision a reality. Jessica has introduced a dynamic new reason for families to come to downtown Ossining.”
Jessica Irons was the artistic director of the award-winning, off-Broadway theater company Andhow! for 10 years and has taught theater all over the tri-state area.
Theater O will offer classes in acting and creative movement for pre-K in both English and Spanish, as well as fairy tale theater, improv comedy, movement for theater, musical theater, play making, playwriting, performance workshop, puppetry and more.
Theater O will offer two productions his summer. "The Handless Maiden", by Jeremy Dobrish, will feature teen actors and "Steven" by Margie Stokley will feature actors ages 7-12.
