OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining-based Riverkeeper will honor "The Avengers" star Mark Ruffalo at its Annual Fisherman's Ball next week.
Ruffalo is being honored for "his outstanding commitment to the causes of clean water and clean energy," the organization said.
Ruffalo is the co-founder of Water Defense and has dedicated himself to keeping drinking water supplies and other natural resources safe from the impacts of hydrofracking for natural gas, according to Riverkeeper.
The ball, which is a "blue jeans, preferred" event, will be held Tuesday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.
There will be a special performance by Grammy winner Lyle Lovett. Yoko Ono, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are among the event's co-chairs.
