The workshops will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ossining Community Center at 95 Broadway.

The workshops are free and open to the public; however, donations will be accepted.

The workshops are part of an education and awareness series developed by the New York-based Scudder Intervention Services Foundation, Inc., (SISFI) a not-for-profit organization that provides suicide awareness and prevention programs and training and mental/behavioral health and emotional wellness to people struggling with life challenges and feelings of hopelessness, helplessness and who may feel lifeless and depressed. The first workshop addresses "The Epidemic of Suicide."

“While reports of completed suicides are said to be lowering, the reality is that we’re meeting more people facing life challenges that is affecting their ability to maintain healthy lifestyles and focus on overcoming their struggles,” said Brett A. Scudder, president and chairman of SISFI and the Suicide Prevention Institute.

Ossining Town Supervisor Sue Donnelly commented on prevention in the community.

"Our community is obligated to reach out to those who are fragile, those who may be in need of help but unsure where it can be found," she said. "The Town of Ossining supports SISFI as they offer pro-active programming to assist not only those in need, but to serve as a comforting resource for their concerned families and friends."

For more information, visit www.sisfi.org or call 917- 651-1889, or email Ask@sisfi.org.

RSVPs are strongly recommended so appropriate accommodations can be in place for the workshops to be comfortable and effective for those who attend. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to RSVP@sisfi.org.
