Ossining Residents Can Recycle Unwanted Clothes,Textiles At Farmer's Market

OSSINING, N.Y. – Down to Earth Markets is hosting "Green Ossining," along with the  local Girl Scout troop for "Clothes the Loop," a recycling effort that includes turning T-shirts into shopping bags.

The event, part of a nationwide effort known as "America Recycles Day," will take place at the Ossining Farmer's Market Saturday, Nov. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The groups will collect clothing, linens, footwear and more.

As part of the mission to eliminate plastic bags at the market, they will also demonstrate how to create reusable bags from T-shirts. For more information and to view the full list of what to donate, click here

In other Ossining Farmer's Market news, an indoor home for the 2015 Winter Season has been found. Starting Saturday, Jan. 10, the location will be at the Claremont Elementary School, on Van Corlandt Avenue (for GPS, the address is 2 Claremont Road). According to Google Maps, it is only a three minute drive from the current location at the corner of Spring and Main Streets. The Ossining Farmers Market will continue to take place in its current location through Saturday, Dec. 27th. Stay stay tuned to the website for more information.
