OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Public Library will recognize the 150th anniversary of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln with two major programs.

The first of two programs takes place on Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m., with an informative presentation on the assassination of President Lincoln and the play-by-play of what exactly happened that night in Ford’s Theater in 1865. This presentation is given by local Lincoln historian John Muranelli. Muranelli will also have on display several of his diagrams of the area where the assassination took place.

The second program is an author event with Jeffrey Pennington, author of “Lincoln’s Assassin – The Unsolicited Confessions of John Wilkes Booth." This event takes place Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. In "Lincoln’s Assassin," the author, presents Booth’s own story of flight and return, detailing how another was shot in his place as he escaped to nominal freedom and obscurity, leaving behind his personal life and the life he once knew. Pennington is a local resident, and this is his debut novel. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Both programs will take place in the second-floor conference room.
