OSSINING, N.Y. – The cornerstone of Ossining’s Bicentennial Celebration starts Sunday with the six-month sculpture exhibit.

Dozens of sculptures, including this one by artist Elizabeth Barksdale, will be featured throughout the Village of Ossining as part of the village's Bicentennial Celebration.

The large-scale, 25-piece outdoor exhibit begins with an opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Ossining Town Hall, 16 Croton Ave. The sculptures themselves will be on display beginning Sunday and running through October throughout the Village of Ossining’s historic buildings and downtown waterfront area.

The exhibition, which is free for all residents and visitors, honors and commemorates the village’s 200th anniversary.

“This is a village that respects and loves its history and its architecture,” said Ossining Mayor William Hanauer during the bicentennial launch party earlier this year.

Bicentennial Committee Chairman George Camp said previously he was proud to be a part of the celebration and knows the sculpture exhibit will be something Ossining residents remember for a while.

“We all know what a treasure we have in our community,” Camp said previously. “Our hope for the celebration this year is for everyone to come together of every race, color and creed to celebrate and let the rest of Westchester and the world know what a great community we have.”

Public Tours of the sculpture exhibit will be held monthly starting in June. For more information on Bicentennial events and celebrations residents and visitors can go to www.villageofossining.org or www.celebrateossining.com.
