Arnoldo Sanchez was on his way to work when he stopped for something to drink at the Flagstaff Plaza 7-Eleven in Ashburn.

While he was there, he also picked up a few Virginia Lottery tickets. When he scratched them in the store, one turned out to be a $100,000 winner.

“I was confused. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!” he told Virginia Lottery officials.

And what did the Herndon man do next? He put the ticket away, got back in his car and continued on to work.

Sanchez won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s 10X the Money scratcher game. The construction worker said he plans to use his winnings to take care of his family.

The 10X the Money game (game #2146) is one of dozens of scratchers available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. The odds of winning the game’s top prize are 1 in 1,713,600, and the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.48.

This is the fifth top prize ticket claimed in this game, which means seven more remain unclaimed.
