OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining's inaugural Health and Wellness Day is set for 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Louis Engel Park.
With the Hudson River as the back drop, a number of local health and wellness vendors will discuss the benefits of yoga, acupuncture, Reiki, massage and more.
The town also is to introduce a set of new Mind, Body, Spirit, Ossining initiatives during the free event.
Vendors are to offer educational information about healthy eating and exercise. Those interested may also sit for a psychic reading.
Kendra Negron of Dragon Fly Wellness is to provide yoga demonstrations while others will offer fairgoers natural soaps, healing oils and jewelry. Green, holistic items also will be available for purchase.
The day is to offer a number of activities for children and adults, including a children/adult coloring table and a number of free demonstrations. Free, filtered antioxidant water will be available for all.
Proceeds collected by the event's vendors will benefit the Baker-Collyer Christmas Cheer Fund, which has been offering holiday food baskets to Ossining's less fortunate for more than 100 years.
Milly Morabito, an all natural soap maker and the event's coordinator, said she is excited to be working on the event in her hometown.
"It has gotten such positive feedback and energy from the community and I'm looking forward to helping to make this a new tradition," she said. "Our community is overflowing with health and wellness services and businesses and it will be amazing to bring them all together by our beautiful river."
