Traffic was tied up on Wednesday afternoon in Dale City, leading to a miles-long backup of traffic in Virginia as the scene of the crash was cleared.

Lanes are expected to stay closed for an extended period of time as the investigation into the incident continues.

No information about the motorcycle rider or what caused the crash has been released.
