WESTPORT, Conn. — A 67-year-old Westport man was arrested Sunday night and charged with drunken driving after police said they received a complaint about his driving.
John Wanat, of Redcoat Road, was stopped on Riverside Avenue after a resident called 911 and reported an erratic driver, the police report said. When stopped, the officer smelled alcohol on Wanat’s breath, police said.
Wanat failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, police said. Breath tests showed his blood-alcohol level was nearly two times over the legal limit of 0.08, police said. The results of his breath test were 0.166 and 0.157, police said.
Wanat was released after posting a $500 bond and is due at Norwalk Superior Court on May 15.
