SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. The Headless Horseman will ride once again this Halloween as both Sleepy Hollow and Historic Hudson Valley gear up for the holiday.
Philipsburg Manor will put on Horseman's Hollow. A cast of actors will play the undead, the evil and the insane while visitors walk a haunted trail, stumbling upon scary scenes of a town driven mad by the Headless Horseman, according to Historic Hudson Valley
Storyteller Jonathan Kruk will re-tell Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow in the Old Dutch Church. Jim Keyes will accompany Kruk on the organ. Each performance lasts about 45 minutes.
Thom Thacker, site director at Philipsburg Manor, said Horseman's Hollow was Historic Hudson Valley's only PG-13 event. Thacker presented the non-profit organization's Halloween plans to the Sleepy Hollow Board of Trustees at a recent meeting.
Thacker noted that Horseman's Hollow had been moved on the Philipsburg Manor grounds so that it would not disturb neighbors on Bellwood Avenue. Thacker also said the performances would end before midnight for both events and that the ticket numbers had been evened out so that there would not be a large crowd of people for each event.
Admission for Historic Hudson Valley events must be purchased beforehand online at www.hudsonvalley.org or by phone at 914-631-8200. Horseman's Hollow tickets are $20 and $25 on Saturday. Irving's 'Legend' tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for children under the age of 18. Performances for both events will run every weekend in October.
Sleepy Hollow's annual haunted hayride will take place on Oct. 28 and 29 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The $20 tickets can be purchased online until Friday, Oct. 28 at noon. Tickets purchased after Oct. 25 must be picked up with an email receipt from Village Hall.
Tickets can also be purchased at Village Hall or at the Halloween Block Party on the days of the hayride.
