Con Edison Restoring Power to New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Adam Lauzar and son Jake Lauzar left their lake house in Pennsylvania two days early because of Tropical Storm Irene only to come back home to their Glenwood house to find the lights working.

Christine De Stefano-Vuksanaj, on the other hand was one of city residents still waiting as of midday Wednesday for Con Edison to restore her power.

“We are still without power, and I am not coping well,” De Stefano-Vuksanaj wrote in a response to a dailynewrochelle facebook post.

“However, there are many in the area who are dealing with far worse than power outages,” she said. We escaped severe flooding, and everyone is alive and healthy. But...if Con Ed could move a little faster, we would appreciate it!”

The Con Edison Public Relations department did not return a verbal phone message left with a employee at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the con Edison outage map, 29 people throughout the city are still without power, down considerably from the 750 to 1,000 originally without.
