? Darien resident Nicholas deSpoelberch, dean of students at Regis High School in Manhattan, was arrested in Wilton and charged with possession of heroin, police announced Tuesday. deSpoelberch is due in court on July 22.

? A pregnant Westport woman and two-time Olympics runner from Ethiopia collapsed and died Monday in Hamden, but doctors at Yale-New Haven Hospital were able to save her baby.

? Residents were encouraged to conserve energy and keep cool as a weeklong heat wave baked the town and the region. High temperatures and humidity combined to make it feel hotter than 100 degrees on many days.
