Beat the Heat in Pleasantville This Week

After a weekend of cool, breezy temperatures, the first hot week of the year in Pleasantville is upon us.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will reach a high of 87 degrees Tuesday with light winds trying to cool things down. Wednesday  and Thursday temperatures will jump the mid-90s with increased humidity. Both days off a slight chances for an afternoon thunderstorm.

Friday, temperatures will settle back into the upper-80s with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Here are some ways to beat the heat in Pleasantville this week:

1. Visit the Pleasantville Pool this weekend at Nannahagan Park to beat the heat. The pool is open to residents from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and starting June 13 will be open during afternoons during the week from 3-7 p.m.

2. Stop by the air-conditioned Mount Pleasant Library to beat the heat this week. There are plenty of work stations as well as activities and events planned this week in the library to give anyone respite from the brutal heat.

3. Stop by local restaurants in the downtown area and in the Old Village. Most are air-conditioned and offer cold drinks to pair with good food.

4. Catch a movie at the Jacob Burns Film Center. The lobby and theater are air-conditioned and you can catch a great flick while you cool off.
