Fairfield Woman Charged with Cell Phone Theft

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield woman was charged with taking a cell phone from a car near her home Wednesday afternoon. Suellen Keane, 58, of Soundview Avenue then attempted an escape through the woods, police said.

The car’s owner told police he allegedly spotted Keane take a cell phone from his car while it was parked on Soundview Avenue. He confronted her about it, saying he would call police and then she ran into the nearby Gypsy Springs Open Space, according to the police report.

Police said they eventually found Keane in the lot behind the nearby Super Stop & Shop. She was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. She was then released on a promise to appear in court May 2.

Kristen Becker, 33, of Rock Ridge Road was charged with shoplifting Wednesday afternoon. She was accused of stealing two pairs of shoes from the Athletic Show Factory on Black Rock Turnpike, police said.

The store’s manager told police a woman allegedly stole $139 worth of merchandise and drove off toward the Merritt Parkway. The man wrote down the car’s license plate number, which police said was listed at Becker’s home address. Officers went to her home and found the shoes in her house, according to police reports.

Becker was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court. She is due in court May 2.
