“Feral cats are the same species as pet cats, but they live outdoors and can’t be socialized to people,” said Paula Garber, Certified Feline Training and Behavior Specialist and owner of Lifeline Cat Behavior Solutions. “Most animal shelters across the United States kill virtually all feral cats who come through their doors because they can’t be adopted. We’re honoring National Feral Cat Day by urging shelters and pounds to adopt a new approach to feral cats that saves lives and improves communities.”

Hundreds of groups will come together across the U.S. to raise awareness about feral cats and Trap-Neuter-Return, a method that humanely traps cats to be evaluated, vaccinated and spayed or neutered by a veterinarian then released.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on the event or donating funds or supplies, click here
