Stamford Bikers, Mayor Ride for a Cause

STAMFORD, Conn. — Mayor Michael Pavia will trade in his car for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Sept. 18 as he and 200 other bikers ride through Stamford for the annual Thunder on the Sound event.

The ride will start at the Merritt Parkway Exit 35 commuter lot and make its way to the Ponus Yacht Club, where a family barbecue will begin a 11 a.m. This is the third annual Thunder on the Sound, and it will raise money for the New Covenant House of Hospitality and the Yerwood Center.

Registration for the ride is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Admission to the barbecue is $30 a person and $10 for children under 12, and people are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to New Covenant House. The rain date is Sept. 25.
