Part of the village’s bicentennial celebration, the Harborfest is excepted to draw a crowd of thousands to Ossining’s waterfront on Saturday.

Live music kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with a performance by the Ossining-based Mike Risko Band and continues throughout the day with an eclectic array of musical genres, including classic rock, pop, instrumental jazz, urban folk, new age and sci-fi rock and pop.

Ossining’s own KJ Denhert and her band will play the final set leading to a fireworks display over the Hudson beginning at 10 p.m. Denhert's blend of urban folk and jazz has earned her four Independent Music Award nominations. Named as one of Jazz.com’s top female vocalists in 2009, Denhert has appeared at scores of festivals and has residencies at The 55 Bar, Smoke in NYC, Baz Bar in St. Barth’s, and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy.

Several of the other groups performing also have ties to Ossining, including father and son guitarists John Eurell Sr. and John Eurell Jr. of the Grammy-nominated band Sundad. The Eurells are making their name as a new-age jazz band whose compositions, recordings and live performances are filled with rhythms, harmonies and chord changes. Sundad’s original repertoire consists mainly of finger-style acoustic guitar instrumentals.

“With eight musical groups to choose from, Harborfest’s live entertainment line-up has something for everyone,” said George Camp, chair of the bicentennial committee in a  prepared statement.

The full line-up is:

11:30 a.m. – Mike Risko Band 12:45 p.m. – Steve Worthy/Eddie Denise Duo 1:45 p.m. – Gerry Malkin Jazz Collective 3 p.m. – Dead Weight Burden 4:30 p.m. – Sundad 5:45 p.m. – Erin Hill & Her Psychedelic Harp 7:15 p.m. – Road to Ruin 8:45 p.m. – KJ Denhert & Her Band

In addition to live music, Harborfest is teaming up with the Hudson Rising River Tour to bring Sloop Clearwater, the historic covered barge Pennsy 399, a farm feast, outdoor adventure activities, sustainability exhibits, vendors, and water-related activities to the shores of Ossining.

While the live music begins at 11:30 a.m., many other Harborfest activities start at 11 a.m.. Boat-building demonstrations and free sailing trips will be conducted throughout the day, as well as a small boat regatta at the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club and a youth fishing program and seineing at the PAL Beach.
