Masi, a Yorktown resident, has opened up The Gentlemen's Barbershop at 37 South Greeley Avenue in Chappaqua after spending 10 years working at a barbershop in Mount Kisco.

"I want to bring that old school traditional feel," Masi, who opened the barbershop on July 18, said. "I want people walking out of here with a smile."

The shop cuts men's and kids hair and offers hot towel shaves in what Masi hopes is a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

"There aren't a lot of places like this," Masi said. "Everyone is such a rush. You can sit on our coach and relax and enjoy coffee and a snack. A lot of people don't do straight razor shaves anymore.

Masi began his barbering days when he was 14 and he started cutting the hair of his brother and his friends. He clearly had a knack for it, as he still cuts his brothers hair and many of his friends became regular customers.

"I found my passion," Masi said.

Masi said everyone in Chappaqua has been very welcoming and warm since he opened. When it comes to men's haircuts, people are really into having their hair short on the side and combed straight back. Kids enjoy their hair long in the front, Masi said. Masi said he is always keeping up with the latest styles, looking up popular hairstyles on the internet.
