Acadia Realty Trust held a groundbreaking ceremony at the 3144 East Main St. site Friday, Oct. 21, that was attended by local dignitaries, including Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi.

Puglisi said the town is thrilled about the shopping center because it will provide both jobs and additional revenue for the town, school district and county.

Acadia has agreed to install an new traffic signal by Baker Street off the heavily trafficked Route 6. It will also, Puglisi said, add amenities such as sidewalks and decorative lighting.

The ShopRite building will be 65,000 square feet in size.
